cute room

This is a really cute kids room. I love the rug and the mini pom poms and THAT bed!! It's so sweet. I found it on the homelife website which I really enjoyed having a browse around. Check it out, there's some really nice ideas on there.

kiss me kate

Are these the sweetest biscuits you've ever seen!? I'd struggle to make a bite mark on one of those, oh, ok, maybe not! One of my lovely customers who bought some bunting from me recently, wanted me to see it featuring as part of her little girl's birthday party. It just so happens that she makes spectacular cakes and biscuits. Take a look at her facebook page here and check out her amazing creations. So talented. Makes my birthday cakes look very mediocre!
This is the picture she wanted me to see which is her daughter's first 'candy themed' birthday party. I'm proud as punch that my bunting was part of such a beautiful set up like this. Thankfully lucky little Isabella will be able to look back on these pictures and realise the talent and effort behind her very first party! Lovely stuff.

sunday sailing

Whilst my husband is sailing real life big boats on Sydney harbour today, I'm here at home, excitedly putting together my pretend big boats. I have looked high and low across Sydney searching for big cinnamon sticks to make bigger boats with bigger masts.
I ended up finding some back in the UK (thank you Waitrose and thank you customs!), so set to work making some stars and stripes sails, a spotty hull and an extra large lovely smelling mast.

So whilst my hubbies yacht might sail faster than mine, I bet mine looks prettier than his and smells a DARN sight better too!

some girlie organisation

It's getting a bit busy over at kitty n' kitsch, anyone would think Christmas is coming.

I really enjoyed making this custom order for 3 little girlies waiting to get super organised in time for Christmas. These pockets are designed to house those trinkets that find themselves under beds and behind the sofas! Hair bands, clips, necklaces, lip gloss or secret notes.

I managed to include some of my delicious new ribbons from my recent trip back home too.

Got to dash, Bernina's calling......

new bunting design

My lovely girlfriend Nikki just had another little boy so I made him some name bunting last night. He was named after Sandon point surf break, yes he has a super surfy daddy.I changed the design a bit and left out the calico squares. To make the letters stand out I used chocolate brown thread to do the blanket stitch. I love this fabric, it's called vintage toy town or something equally as cute. I think the turquoise and chocolate brown work really well together don't you?

I was pretty happy with how it turned out. Will pop it in the post to her on Monday.

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

sugar n spice......

...n all things nice. I embroidered for the first time this week! I loved it, especially after having discovered 'lollihop' font. Lollihop! Love love love that name.
...and love this fabric from my all time favourite little local sewing shop. Super expensive but managed to grab it on sale.

...and I made another pocket organiser. Very Holly Hobbie-ish, a bit chintzy, super girlie, and a bit cute I think. Do you?

the smurfs are back!

I collected smurf figurines as a kid. So I was a little bit excited to find an original 1980's smurf duvet cover at Vinnies last week. Had absolutely no idea what I planned to do with it but I knew I had to make something. It was pretty gutting having to cut it up, but, needs must, and this is the result!
I had some fabulous yellow binding that was about a hundred years old (not far off!) so coupled with my smurf find I made some flags. How cute would they be in a boys room?! I personally think they work whatever age but I'll pop them in the shop as a new Kitty n' Kitsch nursery accessory.
I'm now on the hunt for some more of my childhood friends, Holly Hobbie, Strawberry Shortcake, Snoopy....oooh yeah, the list goes on.....
(in fact I just purchased some original Holly Hobbie fabric from eBay. watch this space!!)

1st garland order-complete!

A lovely mum from the school gate needed a pressie for her new nephew in England. I'm so pleased she decided on a Kitty n Kitsch product! So I set to work and....

.....made a yacht garland [with reds and blues as requested] and included his initials too. Hope she likes it! I'm no photographer, but you get the idea. Oh, and I'm pretty happy it's making it's way back to my home turf too!

etsy is open!

What better day than a rainy Sunday to open a shop. I even worked out how to add the link to my blog. I'm getting into this now. Check out the items I have for sale and let me know what you think! It's pretty nerve wracking when you have made something and it's up on public parade...with a price tag! aaarrrggghhh.

Would love to hear your comments!

gweeeeeetings......

Unearthed!...Some blank greeting cards I made for my 'Kitty n Kitsch' collection. They are intentionally for children but if you're as silly as me you'd love to receive one at whatever age! They are patches from some vintage fabric I picked up along the way, simply sewn onto a blank card. I will sell some as sets, like this 'animal set'. Some individual. There's some cute patches. I'll share with you another time.

Would love to know what you tink about these?

carnival and candy floss mobiles

I was lucky enough to have Craig Hempstead , a local photographer and friend come around today to take some photographs to prepare for the launch of my 'etsy' and 'made it' online stores. Here's a sneak preview of two products that will be featured;

Carnival Mobile

Inspiration for this came from a ton of ribbons hanging from some wire in a beautiful shop down the south coast. I thought it was a mobile, which I was set to snap up for Kitty's nursery but when the shop assistant told me it was a means of displaying ribbons and not actually a mobile I decided to create my own version. With 125 metres of 6mm ribbon, a rose embossed metal heart from a store in the UK, a metal hoop and some hemp string it came together!

I'm pretty happy with the result. The olive greens, deep purples, crimson reds and hot pinks sang Carnival to me. So that became it's name.

Candy Floss Mobile

For something a little softer I went on to make this mobile. I replaced the red heart with a cream version, used whites, creams, silvers and gold ribbons and the finished product reminded me of a candyfloss stall. Hence, it's name.

Both these mobiles will be available for purchase in my 'made it' and 'etsy' stores later this week. Boys colour schemes also available. Heart will be exchanged for something more masculine!

a lil vintage sail

With a small piece of a super cute alphabet sheet found from a local Salvos, a button out my tin, a cinnamon stick and some beautiful natural hemp string....along came a small sailing vessel. A cute addition to a boy's bedroom or even a nautically themed bathroom. Next up....a girlie yacht! Watch this space
